Letitia Berbaum was back in the studio with a distinguished guest in the non-profit sector. Sue Parks, President of Orange County United Way, joined Letitia on air to discuss the distinct efforts their organization has in place. One effort in particular has been to engage more women in the process of giving back. Letitia shares with listeners why she as a woman chose to get involved with the organization, which began when her aunt became homeless. Like most people who fall into this situation, it usually begins with the loss of a job and then one or more life events in combination with it. Letitia wanted to be able to make a difference and was drawn to the fact that the organization is strategic with their efforts which makes them measurable.
Here are highlights from this episode:
-Learn more about their programs designed to get women involved.
-Understand how homelessness can happen to anyone.
-Learn about how Orange County United Way partners with organizations to drive results.
-Determine how you may be able to get involved or give back through either time, talent or treasure.
Sue Parks also shared her ultimate lesson learned with us. For her, having spent many years in the corporate world before moving into the non-profit space, Sue says it's imperative to wake up with purpose.
